Do Humans like Fake News?

Being a DC fan i have a ton of experience reading Fake news. Unfortunately it gets spread more often. If you have been seeing a lot of Fake News whether in Facebook or Twitter and sometimes Fake news goes viral and sometimes the damage is done before anyone become aware of it. Knowing that its fake you often ask yourself that question, Why?. There are many reasons that contribute to this Money and attention. But you forget the most Important factor that contribute to it. No its not the Bots but It's You. You make it go viral, you share that information.

A new study by researchers from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has found that fake news does, in fact, travel much faster than real news. Fake news is 70% more likely to get retweeted/shared than real news, says the study.

Everyday people who tend to tweet and retweet false information are the driving force here. Real news takes six times as long to reach 1,500 people as fake news, said the study.  So why does false news spread so fast? The team blamed human psychology. Turns out, humans just like new things. Also, people like to be first.

"False news is more novel, and people are more likely to share novel information," said Sinan Aral, another member of the team. When on social networks, people gain attention by being the first to share something that is "previously unknown" piece of information, even if it could be false. So, said Aral, "People who share novel information are seen as being in the know."

So next time try to read the news carefully before you start sharing it. Don't just share it by reading just the headline. Think before you share, ask yourself whether it is real or fake. Most of the news that end up are 70% false. You have the control. Only you can stop it.
